My Family

My Family started in Lake Country when my husband and I moved into our first house together on Mountview Road in 2003. It was the year of the Okanagan Mountain Park fires and our street was lined with evacuees and lots of our neighbors met over stories of who we helped evacuate.

At this time I was still attending University which was a short drive or bus ride away. During our years before kids (isn’t this how many of us with kids measure time), my husband and I enjoyed every bit of Lake Country had to offer like asparagus hunting, High Rim Trail (Winter and Summer), hidden beach spots and more…

Becoming parents in 2009 allowed my husband and I to develop a new love and respect for our community and also consider local schools, safety, sidewalks, and streetlights. Our record on Mountview for kids on Halloween was 12 which spoke to most of those things. I also dove into the Official Community Plan (OCP) to see the plans for the community and our area.

In 2018 we moved to the Lakes subdivision, and while it wasn’t my first choice to live, it has been amazing. Street lights, sidewalks, parks nearby, and green space. We even convinced my mom to move in to Cadence 6 months later.

While in Lake Country I have been able to complete my Master’s Degree in Earth and Environmental Science at UBC-O only a bus ride away, give my kids the opportunities they need to thrive, and walk to local spots for date night.

My Passion

Working in both the provincial and local government worlds I have learned my passion is in public service and at the local level. It is where we are most affected in our daily lives – the roads, drinking water, the homes we live in, the businesses we frequent, and the waters we swim in.

As a local government employee I have been able to work on a range of things to protect communities. Such as wildfire protection plans, drinking water source protection and delivery, and securing water supply for the future. I want to do this and more for the community I live in.
