My mission is to represent all community members on Council with Experience and Accountability

Key Issues for the next Council

INFRASTRUCTURE

We are facing economic uncertainty over the next term and we have a lot to accomplish (RCMP building, Municipal Works Yards, Sewage Treatment, Beaver Lake Water Treatment). We need to make sure development pays their fair share first as this will decrease the tax burden on all residents. We also need to focus on improving our existing road infrastructure and the ways to maintain it before we build more on the edges of our community. Then build from that solid foundation.

HOUSING

We are a growing and changing community. Everyone in Lake Country should have housing that meets their needs and that must be considered (balance). Affordability is built on property taxes, access to infrastructure, location to services, as well as rent or purchase price. Building more of what we need in areas near transit, sewer, and water reduces costs. These development processes could be streamlined.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Lake Country has had a reputation of being difficult to build and difficult to start a business. It is time to change that and part of that is actively seeking the businesses we want and promoting the positive changed needed. We also need to ensure our existing businesses are support by the District now and moving forward. While our existing industrial land is smaller than we all would like, it is valuable and we need to promote it!

POSITIVE CHANGE

Lake Country is changing, we have been growing fast since 2016 and even in a changing economy we are a desirable community. I want to consider the big picture and multiple issues to help us get to the place we need to be for all of us now and our children. We want our kids to want to stay here and be able to thrive. We are not a single issue community.

Yes! We need to improve our process at the District Hall for individual permits and the right kind of development, but we have more to do. We need:

  • a strong advocate to improve transit
  • more opportunities for youth in our community
  • a robust cultural community to promote social and mental health
  • a strong advocate to obtain grants for infrastructure (these are our community dollars to be returned!)
  • Innovation and a growth mindset
